Systems Administrator

Linux, RHEL, VMWare, Exchange, Windows Server

Our client are one of the UK’s leading Network Management firms and are currently on the lookout for talented Systems Administrators (Linux and Windows) to join their ever-expanding team just outside of Swindon. The Systems Administrator will be joining our client who are in partnership with some huge tech companies including Cisco, Dell, IBM and Redhat. As the new Systems Administrator / 2nd Line Support Engineer you will have the chance to grow your career in a vibrant and staff-centric environment whilst gaining exposure with the latest tech. As the newest Systems Administrator you will also be working with some major clients helping to deliver award-winning and business critical support!

The Main Responsibilities of this Systems Administrator role include:

- Support and troubleshooting of network systems across multiple platforms in remote environments.

- Management of server, virtualisation, and storage environments

- Resolution of reported faults escalated by the Service Desk to 2nd Line Support within defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

- Ensuring all actions carried out on issues and incidents are recorded accurately in the Service Management toolset.

- The deployment of both standard and complex changes to the customers’ infrastructures

- Managing test and rollout of patches, software and security upgrades, and new software applications.

- Participate in project work on new system implementations and changes arising from continuous service improvement plans

- Investigating opportunities to improve effectiveness and efficiency

- The development of technical procedures that can be operated and managed by the entire Support team.

The key technologies involved in this Systems Administrator position include:

- Linux (RHEL & CentOS)

- VMware ESX and vCenter

- Windows Server 2008/2012 AD environment

- Linux management tools (e.g. Puppet & Spacewalk)

- Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) 2012

- Microsoft Exchange Server 2010/2013

- Networking LAN/WAN (Ideally Cisco, Juniper & Fortinet)

- Microsoft SharePoint 2013

- Backup and Restore (EMC and Veeam)

- AV Products (e.g. McAfee EPO and Sophos)

- Remedy Service management tool

- SolarWinds

This role does involve some on-call duties but out of hours work will be minimal and will be rewarded with a bonus!

This new role does have a broad tech stack and as such is suitable to a wide range of candidates including System Administrators, 2nd Line Support Analyst, IT / Infrastructure Engineers, Linux or Windows Support Specialists, SCCM Deployments Engineers, Senior Service Desk Technicians or Leads and many more!

Based in a vibrant business park in Swindon, this role is easily commutable from Shrivenham, Faringdon, Kingston Bagpuize, Marlborough, Dicot, Abingdon, Oxford, Witney, Reading, Newbury and many kore.
