Solutions Architect

Key responsibility

Responsible for the technical design delivery of secure end to end comms and IS solutions in a complex multi-bearer, mobile environment from requirements capture through high level design to delivery and transition to service. Leading complex higher-risk projects and tasks, solutions may have no precedence

Act as a comms or IS expert across the business supporting delivery and business winning from a technical perspective

* Tenacity and drive to ensure work is delivered across multiple stakeholders

Technical Responsibilities

* Defining and delivering IT andcomms solutions, including:

* Capturing User Requirements

* Translating user requirements into high level systems requirements

* Designing and costing the IT and comms infrastructure solution

* Developing the test and acceptance strategy

* Designing complete Comms or IT solutions for challenging environments potentially where no current infrastructure exists (including mobility and security challenges)

* Strong system engineering principals ensuring correct and appropriate process is followed by team.

* Lead other parts of the business, customer or subcontractors to integrate technology into networks solution

* Able to ensure documentation is clear and concise and appropriate to the project

* Keep abreast of industry trends and advancements in information technology and how they can be incorporated into solutions

Technical Skills and Qualifications

* Will have proven expertise in one of the following areas and knowledge of other areas:

* IT and Servers

* Detailed experience in deploying and supporting Enterprise Infrastructure Services including directory, messaging, back-up and storage

* Detailed experience in implementing lock downs based on Microsoft Group Policy Objects and Group Policy Preference Extensions

* Detailed experience with virtualisation technology, especially VMware or HyperV

* Experience of IT systems integration;

* Comms and Bearers

* Deep knowledge of systems including VLF, HF, UHF and satcom

* Ideally deep knowledge of military comms systems including VLF, Bowman, Falcon and/or Skynet5/6 or Maritime comms

Customer

* Should have a strong understanding of the military environment, generally with a focus on one of air, maritime or land. This will include a technical understanding of the systems that are deployed and the types of information being passed over the networks

* Practical experience of working with MOD and GCHQ network security policies

* Able to work across multiple customer type and adapt style accordingly

Business

* Responsible for the production of (and/or contributions to) proposal for work (preparation/justification of work programmes/plans/resource estimates, identification of risk and mitigation strategies)

* Work with PM to technically deliver project work across the team as required

* Participation in reference groups, training and research on new functionality etc.

* Able to facilitate multiple stakeholders to come to an agreed solution

* Understanding of Defence Procurement

Leadership

* Able to work collaboratively and build teams to ensure the solution is documented and delivered into service following established governance processes

* Able to task and manage junior members of staff

* Supporting staff development

* Able negotiate and facilitate customer community to gain agreement on way forward with projects

Other

* SC Clearance and willingness to undergo further clearances

* Willingness to travel within the UK and potentially overseas.
