South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU)

Digital and Technical Exploitation Capability (DTEC)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified individual to join the Digital and Technical Exploitation Capability (DTEC), part of the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU) hosted by Thames Valley Police on behalf of the region.

The South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU) are currently setting up a new and exciting digital capability, which will enhance existing capabilities and services delivered in the South East Region by the SEROCU. The capability will seek to identify new opportunities to use digital technologies to assist investigations and research new techniques for covert recovery of information from devices and networks.

The unit will seek to develop methods to enhance existing digital capability and provide tactical advice and operational assistance to support the deployment of digital techniques. They will also provide support to assist in the collation and analysis of information from both overt and covert sources.

The successful candidate will carry out research, development, planning and preparation of software, techniques and equipment to counter the Threat, Risk and Harm posed by serious and organised criminals and individuals use of digital techniques to commit serious crime. You will develop risk assessments, method statements and technical feasibility studies and employ a variety of advanced (software and hardware) techniques.

You will have proven ability to work in a secure and confidential environment with the highest standards of integrity; able to recognise sensitive information and maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times. You will have a graduate degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Electronics, Radio, Telecommunications equivalent technical degree or relevant industry experience.

You may be required to travel for business purposes on occasion and demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours. You must be prepared to be security cleared to an enhanced level.

The salary advertised above is the starting salary, and a higher salary may be negotiable depending on the candidates experience and qualifications, and performance at interview.
