Do you want the opportunity to build upon your skills and development within this organisation whilst leading the execution of work packages and projects within an engineering team?

This specialist company based in Newcastle design, develop, test and commission products and as a result of continual growth are now looking to recruit a Lead Mechanical Engineer responsible for delivering excellence to both internal and external customers for LARS and deck equipment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer with at least 5 years experience in an engineering design role coupled with excellent leadership skills.

You will lead the execution of work packages and projects within the Deck Equipment engineering team. Ensure technical specifications are met within budget for both engineering hours and direct component costs. Deliver engineering excellence to internal and external customers for LARS and deck equipment. Focus on timely release of parts and drawings in line with project engineering design plans.

The Role

·Be the technical focal point for all of your assigned packages of engineering activity

·Provide technical leadership to the deck equipment engineering team, prioritising tasks in line with the needs of projects

·Act as the technical checker for deck equipment and LARS products, supported and mentored by the principal/chief engineers

·Drive the on time deliverables in accordance with the EDP across all Deck Equipment projects

The Person:

·Leadership skills

·The ability to understand and apply commercial and financial principles to engineering work to understand cost, profit, budget control and added value.

·Demonstrates sound analysis and judgement to investigate and interpret data, issues and situations, and weigh options in order to make sound technical and management decisions.

·Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a sound understanding of engineering principles

·A minimum of 5 years' experience in an engineering design role, preferably low-volume / high value capital equipment

·Experienced with Autodesk AutoCAD and Inventor

·Capable of understanding and communicating about other non-mechanical elements of the design process - Electric, Control, Software and Hydraulic

·Experience with design schemes, design proposal drawings, detail drawings, GA's functional specs, and technical reports

·Good working knowledge in applying relevant H&S and engineering design standards

·Able to understand customer requirements and translate these into technical specifications and designs
