Your new role: Embedded Linux Engineer

Location: Bristol

Salary: £40,000 - £55,000 + annual pay reviews

My client is looking to hire 3x embedded Linux engineers from junior level to senior level. Each candidate will be working alone or in a small team and have regular customer contact.

The candidate will likely perform the following activities:

*Developing or customising board support packages (BSP) for our customers' custom hardware to provide additional functionality, e.g. software update, security, optimisation, etc

*Writing device drivers for bootloaders and the Linux kernel

*Developing middleware usually based on C/C++

*Customisation of Yocto/Buildroot distributions

*Working with video solutions

*Finding solutions to customer problems and providing expertise

We are looking for candidates that can satisfy the majority NOT ALL of the following requirements:

*Experience in developing for embedded systems

*Experience in Linux kernel and bootloader development

*Experience in board-bring up

*Experience in using opensource tools and the opensource community

*Experience in distribution creators such as Yocto and Buildroot

*Experience in GStreamer/Qt

*Ability to travel

*Ability to work independently and communicate effectively

*Strong passion for embedded Linux and learning

*Flair for finding solutions to difficult and complex problems in unfamiliar areas with limited time

*Ability to use and manage time effectively

This role provides an excellent opportunity for candidates to develop their embedded Linux capabilities and become an expert within their area. This role is especially suited for engineers that like interacting with physical hardware, like to learn and enjoy the variety of working on different projects.
