Salary in the region of £35,924 - £43,468 (dependant on experience) plus excellent benefits

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our research team devoted to study human pluripotent stem cells and modelling of metabolic disorders. The objective of the laboratory is to understand the mechanisms controlling stem cell differentiation and then to use this basic knowledge for modelling metabolic disorders. For that, we combine pancreatic and liver cells generated from human pluripotent stem cells with a diversity of "omics" to uncover the genetic mechanisms driving metabolic disorders. Accordingly, projects currently underway examine the molecular mechanisms by which specific genes or genetic variants induced diabetes or increase susceptibility to Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Ultimately, we aim to use the knowledge generated by these studies to developed new therapeutics.

The objectives of the position will be to support computational analyses for these projects. This will include analyses of ChIP-Seq, RNA-Seq and Single Cell RNA-Seq data set from a diversity of studies. The role will be central to coordinate the different analyses project and to coordinate all the data generated. Importantly, the successful candidate will have the possibility to develop their own project in synergy with existing programs.

There will be an opportunity to assist with writing publications, provide supervision, participate in the research group PhD training and mentoring programme, and to participate in the overall contribution of the research program, as appropriate.

Essential Skills

* PhD degree or equivalent experience in a computational or biological science.

* Formal training in computational biology or bioinformatics and familiarity with genome

* Experience with transcriptomic datasets and basic knowledge of single cell technologies

* Demonstrated proficiency with several of the following technologies: R, Unix, Perl, Python, Java, Matlab, C, C++

* Evidence of ability to work as part of a team

* Highly developed problem solving skills

* Excellent communication skills as evidenced by publications and presentations

* Ability to prioritise tasks to ensure the right things are done at the right time
