Be part of our Digital transformation!

About CQC

The Care Quality Commission is the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England. We make sure health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care and we encourage care services to improve.

We’ve already transformed our organisation, putting the public and best practice at the heart of everything we do. The work continues as CQC is undergoing a significant digital transformation. The Digital directorate, headed by Pete Sinden, Chief Digital Officer, will be overseeing delivery of our information management and technology strategy, setting out to overhaul our systems over the next few years. We are looking to strengthen our Digital function to deliver on our business priorities. Our core methodology and delivery approach will shift from a waterfall to an agile method.

About the role

As the Senior Product Manager, you will be responsible for leading the design, delivery and continuous improvement of multiple CQC digital products, adopting appropriate agile frameworks, methodologies and tools. Such products will include those that are especially complex, high risk or sensitive, creating a vision for the product based on expert understanding of user needs in parallel with the business Service Owner’s vision.

Managing competing stakeholders through the whole lifecycle of each product is central to this role. You will create a vision for the product based on expert understanding of user needs, from gathering requirements, checking deliverables against business objectives and CQC strategy whilst ensuring your product meets the Digital Service Standard to maximise value and ensure a good user experience.

You will be accountable for the end to end design, delivery, operations and roll out for a specified Digital Product. Part of this will be about supporting the business Service Owner in defining the business case for investment and associated benefits realisation whilst championing service needs in the delivery of products. You will lead a team of Product and Delivery Managers, providing line management, support and coaching, whilst ensuring they develop and prioritise product roadmaps and backlogs. You will build a new Product and Delivery Manager community and contribute to the digital transformation and culture within CQC.

About you

With a passion for evolving great digital products, you will have experience of managing the development of complex and/or high-risk products and creating, maintaining and prioritising product backlogs to direct the work of a delivery team. For this reason, it is also important you have experience of managing, leading and developing a team, including matrix-management. To create excellent user experiences, we expect you to be able to engage with users and turn user insight into product improvements supported by experience of designing digital services for high profile consumer and niche audiences.
