A leader in our Digital transformation!

About CQC

The Care Quality Commission is the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England. We make sure health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care and we encourage care services to improve.

We’ve already transformed our organisation, putting the public and best practice at the heart of everything we do. The work continues as CQC is undergoing a significant digital transformation. The Digital directorate, headed by Pete Sinden, Chief Digital Officer, will be overseeing delivery of our information management and technology strategy, setting out to overhaul our systems over the next few years. We are looking to strengthen our Digital function to deliver on our business priorities. Our core methodology and delivery approach will shift from a waterfall to an agile method.

About the role

This is a new role, key to our Digital transformation. As part of the Senior Leadership Team for CQC Digital and working closely with other Heads of Service, you will be leading the development and implementation of information systems, business applications and collaboration tools, underpinning the transformation of CQC’s operating model. You will hold responsibility for ensuring best practice agile methods and technical prerequisites are put in place to enable high quality, rapid assured delivery and deployment of a range of products. The technical environment is complex with major multi-supplier and in-house development environments. The technical landscape will see us migrating legacy technology on to new cloud-based platforms framed by an API and microservices architecture. Working closely with others you will not only be required to develop a lean, end-to-end service line for each product but evangelise Dev Ops and a continuous improvement culture and practices across the Engineering community.

About you

You will be an expert in key technical principles and experienced in Digital transformation projects and strategies. Proven experience of leading and delivering complex technical change and developing technology strategy and programmes is a must along with the ability to deliver detailed technical changes required to support agile, responsive change. With excellent working knowledge of information architecture, data warehousing, software development and user-centred design you will be experienced in transforming ways of working, both in terms of methods and culture. You will be required to demonstrate your ability to develop efficient, supportable applications that meet cost, resource and customer requirements with a focus on continuous delivery focusing on stability, availability and quality.

This is an exciting and demanding senior role giving someone with senior level experience, fantastic leadership skills and strong relationship abilities the opportunity to transform our information systems.

The successful applicant should expect to undertake weekly travel to CQC offices as a requirement of the role is to be mobile and visible.
