SAS / Analyst / Developer / Data Development / Reporting / Financial Services / South Birmingham

My award winning and well recognised financial services client is looking for an experienced SAS Analyst / Developer to be based at their South Birmingham head office. This role will initially be a 12 month fixed term contract.

The SAS Analyst will lead the development of SAS processes, including all aspects of the development life-cycle. You will also ensure that all policy and asset data delivered to various users is accurate, timely and fit for purpose and that reporting requirements are adhered to.

Key responsibilities:

*Own the maintenance and enhancement of all SAS processes.

*Understand and own the Finance Systems governance process.

*Act as the technical lead for development activity, taking responsibility for quality and adherence to development principles/standards.

*Production of technical specifications to support the design.

*Development of application software in a specified and controlled environment in line with the technical specifications.

*Testing of development changes in a specified and controlled environment in line with the testing criteria.

*Consider the impact of developments on operational processes, controls and relevant documentation.

*Production of accompanying documentation in line with agreed standards

*Actively support the Transition and Embedding of developments into the BAU cycle.

*Adhere to the agreed and appropriate standards for technical specifications, development work and operational tasks.

*Compliance and maintenance of the appropriate control framework as set out in the Data Governance Framework & Data Management Framework.

*Participate in line manager and team meeting discussions, providing feedback and challenge.

*Identify personal development and training needs.

*Contribute to a culture of knowledge sharing and support.

Key Skills and Experienced required:

*Experienced SAS programming skills.

*A degree in a maths related subject is desirable.

*Strong technical ability.

*Ability to clearly and concisely communicate technical concepts via written reports.

*Excel, MS Visio.

*Strong background & knowledge of data management.

*Proven Data analysis experience.

*Strong experience in Data migration and exposure to reporting processes.

*Knowledge of the underlying characteristics & complexity of a range of asset types including derivative instruments.

*Experience and understanding of the development lifecycle.

*Competencies covering teamwork, results and quality orientation, integrity, adaptability, innovation, forward thinking, decision making and continuous improvement.

*Financial services experience is also desirable.
