Great Britain’s gambling industry is in a constant state of change, fuelled by shifting consumer behaviour and the rapid growth of technology. It’s high profile politically too, and the legislation controlling gambling is constantly under scrutiny. Within this uniquely challenging and evolving environment, our client’s role is to ensure that gambling is crime free, fair and open - and that children and vulnerable people are protected. Now they need you to play a key role in their future, driving the change needed to ensure that our client can meet the growing complexity of the market and their developing regulatory remit.

Our client is now seeking a Senior Data Analyst to support their Data Programme, which aims to provide relevant, trusted and accessible data to underpin the regulation of gambling in Great Britain.

Data underpins many of our client’s strategic priorities - understanding the industry and its participants is crucial if they are to regulate effectively. The evidence and insight provided by the Data Team feeds into projects and processes across the organisation, enhancing understanding of the behaviours of operators and consumers through best-practice approaches to data management and advanced analysis.

The Data Team is growing, ambitious and confident of delivering our client’s aim to fundamentally change the way they work, becoming data-centric and evidence-led. They are investing in their people to develop capability in the fields of data science and machine learning while consolidating their knowledge in data management and data analysis. This will ensure that our client has the requisite skills to continue to provide valuable data services and leverage new technology to support the goals of the organisation.

As the Senior Data Analyst, you will perform a range of data science, statistics, performance metrics and data management tasks to support our client’s activities.

In this key role, you will:

- Manage the leveraging of data to support evidence-based policy and decision-making activities

- Work with a range of stakeholders to understand their data needs

- Manage the development and maintenance of the underlying metrics for performance measurement frameworks

- Collect, analyse, interpret and present quantitative data as statistical outputs

- Assist with the development, implementation and supervision of our client’s data lifecycle management needs

- Provide introductory training to junior colleagues

To be considered, you will need:

- Previous experience as a data analyst

- Experience of undertaking complicated tasks requiring substantial analytical ability, guided by a deep understanding of complex principles

Meticulous and pragmatic, as the Senior Data Analyst, you will have superb interpersonal and communication skills. A highly organised approach is also key, as is the ability to effectively plan and prioritise your workload.
