Penetration Tester - Cambridgeshire - £80,000 - £90,000 + Benefits

I am seeking an experienced security consultant to contribute and grow the existing capabilities of my client. This role will primarily be based in their Cambridge office, with some travel to client site as required. This multi-purpose role will require working within a close-knit team to help build them as a global leader in cyber security, primarily within the penetration testing domain.

The ideal candidates will be required to have an open-mind and a proactive approach towards developing innovative solutions to challenge existing security testing services and tools to provide ever more cost-effective and appropriate solutions to a global market base.

Candidates will have a complete understanding of the penetration testing cycle. A major function of this role includes significant business development work such as scoping penetration testing projects, meeting customers, customer management and competitor analysis. You will be expected to contribute to the writing of proposals and bids as well as pricing of projects and responses to Invitations to Tender (ITT) that will need a basic understanding of commercial activity and concepts such as revenue, costs and profit margins.

The candidates will have a familiarity with defensive operations at a level that allows them to work with new entrants to the profession. This may include providing mentoring, simulated attacks for the purpose of SOC development / proof of Initial Operating Capability (IOC) and delivery of theoretical concepts. Supporting knowledge of Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), malware analysis (static, dynamic, debugging & disassembly) and network traffic analysis is desirable.

The candidates will be required to project manage business development and revenue generation work delivered by groups of specialists and to frequently lead small technical teams in addition to working independently; experience of mentoring or developing other CHECK Team Member's skillsets would be beneficial in this role, with a technical development focus.

This role will facilitate opportunities to gain experience through working with the multitude of other security disciplines within the business, including but not limited to: PCI-DSS, Protective Monitoring, Incident Response, Software Engineering, ISO27001, Reverse Engineering, Cyber Threat Reporting, and Training.

This role requires a good understanding of how traditional security operation centres and test teams function and extensive use of multiple vendors' open-source protective monitoring, penetration testing, code review and exploitation tools as well as the ability to learn the use of new tools in response to customer requirements.

Travel will be an expectation of the candidate in this role, when required, often internationally and for a predetermined period of time. Cyber training, engineering services, penetration testing and incident response represents a major strand of growth in cyber security services.
