Creating a safer future by managing radioactive waste effectively, to protect people and the environment
Here at Radioactive Waste Management (RWM) Ltd, our mission is to deliver a geological disposal facility (GDF) to deal with the UK’s nuclear waste and provide radioactive waste management solutions. The GDF represents a major multi-million pound national infrastructure programme that will isolate higher activity waste deep underground, creating a safer future.
We are looking to continue the expansion of our two key teams within our Waste Management Department. These teams are responsible for working collaboratively with our partners in the nuclear industry, Nuclear Decommissioning Authority and supply chain to identify and implement opportunities for the management of Higher Activity Wastes and to ensure the acceptability of the resulting products for geological disposal.
Challenge and acceptance of solutions
Within this team you will deliver waste management projects to critically assess the development and delivery of waste packaging solutions, engaging with industry stakeholders to advise on their packaging activities consistent with the development of a GDF. Qualified to degree level or above, you will have experience of delivering technical projects with a focus on analysis, problem-solving and the production of high quality written output. As a member of the Waste Management team, you will be called upon to act both as a delivery manager and a technical specialist. Candidates should be able to demonstrate a proven track record of balancing a complex workload, management of priorities and delivery of technical solutions.
Development and delivery of opportunities
Working in this area, you will play a key part in the delivery of demonstrable benefits for the industry at each stage of the waste management life cycle. You will need a good first degree in Science or Engineering and hold or be working towards chartered member status of a relevant body. From the experience you have gained within the nuclear sector you will have a solid understanding of the higher activity waste life-cycle, coupled with a proven track record in effective project delivery. In return, you will enjoy a high profile role within the organisation and the opportunity to ‘make it your own’.
