One of the UK's leading providers of highly technical engineering solutions into multiple sectors including utilities and transportation is currently seeking a Business Development Director for their Power Division. This incorporates a number of exciting responsibilities that will see you play an integral role in divisional growth; holding accountability for brand new business development, growing existing customer accounts and team leadership.
Scope of the role
Playing a key role in the expansion of their energy services offering, as Business Development Director you will define and implement a market plan to deliver full-life of asset consultation, engineering and technology requirements within the UK Energy generation, transmission and distribution market.
Field-based and involving regular travel around the United Kingdom, the Business Development Director will be tasked with supporting new business development throughout this sector, generating new opportunities and building rapport with clients to develop profitable business relationships. This will involve strategically identifying new customer organisations and ways of enhancing sustainable account growth.
Furthermore, the Business Development Director will be tasked with taking ownership of existing client relationships to ensure quality relationships remain in place, leading to regular repeat business. This will involve the creation of key account management plans, engaging in regular customer-facing activity and reviewing service delivery levels.
In what is an all-encompassing business development role, you will provide project lifecycle guidance and leadership from the identification of the opportunity through to bid proposal, execution and after-service. Reporting into the Head of the Division, you will produce monthly revenue forecasts and work with Heads of Departments to evaluate resource allocation and review project proposals to determine both engineering and commercial requirements. This will also involve reviewing delivery against customer requirements, satisfaction levels and commercial contract terms to ensure successful delivery of projects on-time and against agreed revenue/margin targets.
This position will involve regular travel across the United Kingdom visiting client sites and supporting your team on customer-facing meetings; it will also require reporting into their corporate headquarters located across the United Kingdom from time-to-time.
You will:
* Have a proven record of securing business for consultation/engineering services within the Energy Generation/UK Transmission and Distribution sector.
* Have a good understanding of Energy Production and supply programme/portfolio management
* Be experienced in leadership and staff development, implementing successful management techniques to maximise employee performance
* Be able to demonstrate a successful record in executing projects on-time and within budget.
* Possess a good understanding of relevant Energy market legislation.
* Be comfortable travelling across the United Kingdom on a regular basis, engaging in customer-facing activity.
