I am looking for a Senior PHP Developer for a 3 week contract to start ASAP in Central London.

We're a multi-disciplined team, using a variety of technologies and techniques. We like Grunt, use Sass for a CSS and we're not opposed to a spot of Backbone. But at the heart of it, these are just tools to make life easier, we don't let the tools get in the way of good development practices and neither should you. You are expected to lead by example, as the role is a mix of hands on development.

The role has joint (with the Head of Front End Development) responsibility for implementing processes, communicating and enforcing Front End standards and quality across the team and ensuring consistency across our delivery as a whole. In addition, you need to provide mentorship and leadership across the team inspiring the best work from each of them. We ask a lot, but that's because we want to give you the opportunity to grow and increase your skills as much as you help improve and support the team and wider Technology Department.

You'll be leading and taking ownership of larger projects while for smaller projects you will guide and support more junior members of the team. You will be expected to present work and ideas clearly and methodically within the team and will be required to document large projects. You will also work with designers to realise designs and offer ideas/alternatives on routes to best complete a project. It is also likely that you will meet and be introduced to clients so you should be aware that the work produced will speak for you and the team. You may also be required to field questions and answers with clients and other project stakeholders.

Skills/Competencies

The Senior PHP Developer will play a proactive role in their own learning, project development and time management, requiring a range of skills to facilitate this. We look to provide training and mentorship to compliment your existing skills:

*Excellent knowledge of HTML, CSS and unobtrusive JavaScript techniques, how to apply them following industry standards, DDA compliancy and browser quirks

*Proven track record of commercial web development experience

*Excellent knowledge of LAMP technologies especially PHP *Knowledge of the Drupal Platform

*Proven knowledge of programming paradigms, including Object Oriented PHP

*Personal or professional experience with the Laravel Platform is a bonus

*Thoroughness in any documentation and commenting of code

*Experience of SVN or GIT for version control

*Knowledge of various Web API's and how to integrate with 3rd party systems using both SOAP and JSON

*CSS pre-processors (Primarily Sass using .scss)

*Keen interest in improving performance and workflow through efficient coding practices

*You use Grunt or Gulp as part of your workflow

*You understand the importance of a mobile-first workflow

*Previous line management experience would be a bonus

*Willingness to take on any other responsibilities or tasks that are within the employee's skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed

*We'd really like it if you've experience with TDD

*Knowledge of Content Management Systems

*Estimation of effort needed to successfully deliver the project(s) you're working on

Please get in touch if you think it is a good match
