Infrastructure Engineer - 3rd Line Support

Summary:

Exciting opportunity for a 3rd line infrastructure engineer to get involved in Networking and Infrastructure projects and BAU 3rd line support.

Chance to build on existing skills while learning new technologies and environments. Reporting directly into the Head of IT, you will be providing 3rd line Infrastructure support for key systems across the server and network infrastructure.

This will suit an individual with 3+ years’ experience working in 3rd line support who is looking to develop skills in both Infrastructure and networking.

Windows AD, Terminal services, Wintel, Storage, Monitoring systems, Virtualization, Firewalls, Networking.

Responsibilities:

- Providing 3rd line Infrastructure support for key systems across the server and network infrastructure (supporting multiple offices)

- Actively seek out opportunities to improve and optimize the global infrastructure including use of cloud and virtualization, servers, backup strategy, network devices, security and monitoring

- Create and maintain infrastructure related documentation, operational policies, IT policies, as needed

- Participate in the entire development lifecycle; planning through implementation, documentation, testing, and deployment, all the way to monitoring

- Conduct full stack diagnostics when necessary, to help determine the root cause of problems

- Accurately logging and responding to support calls using the IT helpdesk system

- Carry out maintenance and administration on the Company’s infrastructure systems, including new installations or upgrades

- Liaise with multiple HW/SW/Telephony suppliers to ensure the smooth installation and running of systems

- Assisting the IT Manager with ad hoc projects and operational duties (out of hours work will be required from time to time)

Experience:

- Must have experience in Financial Services industry

- Experience working within a 3rd line support engineer role. (3+ years)

- Supporting and administering a security and networking LAN & WAN and Server Infrastructure

- Extensive experience with Windows Server (2003/2008/2012)

- Experience with Microsoft HyperV or similar.

- CCNA or equivalent networking skills minimum

- Firewalls

- Office365 / Azure

- Disaster Recovery experience

- Ability to work on more than one project

- Experience of supporting a variety of Windows/Mac client and server operating systems

- Knowledge of monitoring alerting, logging and status messages

- Troubleshooting network issues

- Fundamental networking knowledge - IP, DNS, IP routing, network address translation etc.

- Strong troubleshooting skills and experience with Windows Server operating systems

- Security oriented with a proactive approach

Desirable:

- Degree / Graduate - 2.1 or above - in any Computer Science related subject

- Experience supporting Mac OS

- Telephony experience

- Linux experience
