This busy full service marketing agency is seeking an experienced freelance WordPress Developer to join its existing digital team. Initially this will be for a 3-month contract, but there may be a possibility of extending the contract to full-time permanent with excellent career progression in this growing department.

The successful applicant will be required to undertake both back-end and front-end development, including creating WordPress themes and potentially plugins. Reporting into the Web Director, this position requires a combination of programming skills (ideally PHP, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript).

Responsibilities:

- Implementing new features and functionality for clients when required

- Establishing and guiding websites' architecture

- Ensuring high-performance and availability, and managing all technical aspects of the CMS

- Helping formulate an effective, responsive design and turning it into a working theme and/or plugin

- Managing existing WordPress websites including security updates and patches when necessary

Skills and Qualifications:

- Good understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery

- Experience of designing and developing responsive design websites

- Comfortable working with debugging tools like Firebug, Chrome Inspector, etc.

- Ability to understand CSS changes and their ramifications to ensure consistent style across platforms and browsers

- Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working HTML pages

- Knowledge of how to interact with RESTful APIs and formats (JSON, XML)

- Proficient understanding of code versioning tools (Git - Bitbucket)

- Strong understanding of PHP back-end development (PHP5.6, PHP7)
