Job Title: Technical Support Engineer

Location: Oakhanger, Hampshire

Salary: £16-25K subject to experience

The Company is a primarily a software development business creating applications for a number of business sectors with a focus on Retail POS Solutions and back office.

They provide their clients a full service including; software, hardware, infrastructure cabling, networks and administration, security and data protection.

They are looking for another Technical Support Engineer to join their small team of IT Professionals.

The candidate will be required to provide technical help and support to clients and other staff, allowing them to complete their work in a timely and professional manner.

Key responsibilities, accountabilities and objectives

* Provide technical help and support to clients and staff of PBSL.

* Build & Configure I.T. Equipment as required.

* Visit client sites to provide technical services in the form of support or installations.

* Prioritise work according to the needs of the clients and within contracted SLA's.

* Resolve client issues within acceptable timescales and escalate calls as necessary.

* Answer incoming support calls timely and professionally.

* At all times ensure the clients data integrity and security.

* Record all work accurately on the company's timesheet system.

* Maintain and develop the company's support system and knowledge base.

* Monitor workloads and report on any issues affecting the ability to complete tasks on time.

* Respond to client request for sales related queries.

* Undertake ongoing training to continue to further your skills as the market demands.

* Develop ideas for improving the support process.

* Ensure your work area is kept clean and tidy.

Key skills required

This should include Installation, Configuration and Usage as appropriate.

* Microsoft Windows Desktop Operating Systems

* Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems

* Microsoft and other commonly used Windows applications

* Some knowledge of DOS and other legacy systems.

* Hardware building and configuration

* TCP/IP networking

* Router and VPN configuration

* Problem Solving and Diagnostics

* Data and Network Security

* Data Analysis and Recovery including the general use of SQL

Must be mature and able to spend one or two nights away per month. Able to commute reliably to office base. Able to work extended hours on occasions when required. Must have clean or near clean driving licence.

Literacy and Numeracy

Able to understand profit and loss calculations and basic business finance, e.g., gross margin

Management Ability

Though internal staff management is not initially part of the job, responsibility and opportunity could grow with the development of the business. Personal time management is however essential and the ability to work alone or as part of a team.
