Scala Developer / Senior Software Engineer (Scala Java 8 Kafka TDD microservices). Award winning energy provider that is revolutionising consumer energy markets, delivering savings and greener energy for approaching one million households across the UK is seeking a skilled software developer with strong Scala skills.

As a Scala Developer you will design and develop for a new IoT platform on the national grid which allows energy users to determine where energy has come from (renewable sources / coal / gas). There are many technical challenges to overcome; the systems incorporate elements of AI and Machine Learning and they're looking to incorporate block chain technology in the near future.

This product has massive potential and is set to become the leading platform for all energy providers; as a senior Scala Developer you will play a key role in the success of this ground breaking product.

The company is a technical innovator, supports a coding charity, sponsors regular tech conferences and is starting an open source initiative. As a Scala Developer you'll be joining a highly talented Agile development team that encourages knowledge sharing and close collaboration using XP, Pair Programming and TDD; you'll have the freedom, autonomy and responsibility to suggest technical changes and make sure they happen.

Requirements:

*Passionate technologist with strong Scala coding skills (likely to have an OO background with Java or .Net)

*Experience building high performance, scalable, distributed web applications

*Experience with REST and asynchronous event driven programming

*Familiar with Kafka and microservices

*Automation testing, TDD

*Excellent communication skills, collaborative and keen to share knowledge

*Desirable: AKKA, Hadoop, Spark
