Having established their position as technology leaders within the pallet network sector, their in-house IT department is responsible for every aspect of IT.

Based at their operations centre in Fradley Park, Lichfield, they use a variety of technologies to support their network of 85+ hauliers across the UK. They also have corporate partners delivering consignments to 26 European countries.

The role

The primary function of the role is to support and assist both the member network and UPN staff in all areas of IT. We operate a support call log / help desk system, so the ability to understand and diagnose issues quickly is essential.

Experience of general PC maintenance and MS Office would be an advantage but is not essential as full training will be given.

Work then continues alongside our in-house developers to help in the resolution of bugs that arise from items developed.

Key responsibilities:

- Answering 1st line support calls

- Working with customers and employees to identify problems and advising on possible solutions

- Accurately record, update and document requests using the aforementioned system

- Maintain a first class level of customer service ensuring that all customers are treated efficiently and in an appropriate manner

- To update self-help documents

- Accurately record the movements of company assets

- To install/test/configure new and used IT equipment

- Be willing to attend internal training as necessary to keep up to date with the latest technology and internal system processes

Desired technical skills and experience

Experience in any of the following would be advantageous but not essential.

- .NET

- SQL

- JavaScript

- VB.NET

- Database design / administration

- Web / Windows / Mobile development

The candidate

Suitable candidates should be able to demonstrate:

- Excellent communication skills, a positive 'can do' attitude to work and be willing to learn new skills

- Self motivation and the ability to work well as part of a team

- A close attention to detail

- Innovative, logical thinking

- Approachable, outgoing and diplomatic

- Full UK driving license and own transport

- Naturally enthusiastic with the ability, drive and initiative to deliver solutions and move the company forward.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone, perhaps just starting their career, as they offer competitive rewards and excellent career development opportunities, with the potential to have further training funded by the company if suitable. In order to be considered for this position, candidates must have current and valid eligibility to work in the UK.
