DBA - SQL Server

A new position has been created for a skilled SQL Server DBA to join a boutique Capital Markets and Securities focused Investment Bank in London City.

The Position

This SQL Server DBA role is a newly created position - there are currently no DBA's based in London, with their Database support coming from a DBA in their US office. Due to company growth and the volume of DBA work available, they are now seeking a SQL Server DBA to work in the London Office. This DBA will sit within the London Infrastructure team, working in tandem with the DBA in the US to support offices in the UK, Asia, and US.

Typical Responsibilities

As a SQL Server DBA, you will work on a mid-sized database estate, working with 40 servers and over 300 databases, which have over a terabyte of data running through them. You will be expected to carry out database migrations, database back-ups, installations, and replications. You will primarily work on SQL Server 2012, however part of your role will be upgrading SQL 2005 and 2008 to this version. You will also have some exposure to Oracle databases, however the vast majority of your role will focus around the SQL Server. You will also get the opportunity to work on a number of SQL Server Database projects, with the opportunity to get involved with a large Greenfield SQL Server Data Warehouse Project in 2017.

The Company

You would be joining a small but established financial services company who are part of a must larger global financial group. You'll be based in the heart of the City in a convenient location, within walking distance of Canon Street Station, and accessible on the Central Tube line. The company is a firm believer in work life balance, and they actively develop and support their staff throughout their career. On top of this, employees can expect a competitive salary and benefits package, which offers annual bonus, health-care, and a non-contributory pension scheme (to name a few).

About You

The ideal candidate for this role will currently be working as a SQL Server DBA within Financial Services, and have experience with SQL Server 2012, T-SQL, AlwaysOn, and typical DBA duties such as migration, replication, and clustering. If this sounds like you and you're looking for a new challenge with a fantastic company, then please don't hesitate to apply!
