SQL Infrastructure DBAWorking for our leading financial services client in the heart of Glasgow, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SQL Infrastructure DBA to join a small but expanding team. This role will allow the successful DBA to work on up to date technologies including SQL Server 2016 and also be involved with several third party technologies including Solarwinds, Idera and RedGate. The team is currently going through an expansion due to the growth of the SQL estate, this will allow the DBA to be heavily involved in both BAU and project work. Some of the upcoming projects include upgrades, greenfield projects, building a new Data Centre and the placement of some services in to the cloud.Our client is primed and ready to interview ASAP so if you feel this role and the below details match your skillset and career desires, please send your CV across to us immediately.Role responsibilities:

'€¢Support of all aspects of organisation's SQL estate in European Data Centre; all versions of SQL Server up to and including 2016.'€¢Technical expertise for SQL related design, performance, security and configuration issues.'€¢Maintaining, monitoring and supporting complex database solutions.'€¢Troubleshooting, performance tuning and problem resolution of SQL Server.'€¢Backup and restore strategies across a number of SQL Server versions, whilst also monitoring, managing and testing backup and restore jobs and tasks.'€¢Working with different business units to deliver projects and perform normal BAU activities.'€¢Implement technical procedures for governance and change management.'€¢Contribute to the development of the DevOps function.'€¢Explore new technologies that can assist in improving the IT systems to achieve overall business strategies and objectives.

Essential skills

'€¢Minimum of 5 years' experience in an Infrastructure DBA/Development DBA role.'€¢Knowledge of SQL Server and its tools, administering from simple to complex environments.'€¢Experience of installing and configuring SQL Server to defined standards.'€¢Knowledge of database tuning, memory usage, data access and manipulation and physical storage.'€¢Expert in T-SQL, including writing complex stored procedures, tables, views and triggers.'€¢Exposure to SQL High Availability solutions, clustering, mirroring, log shipping and replication.

'€¢Working experience of Dynamic Management Views and Functions.'€¢Working experience of index performance tuning.

Desirable skills:

'€¢Microsoft SQL Server Certified.'€¢Experience of high availability strategies in a SQL Server environment.'€¢Experience of SQL Server encryption methodologies including TDE and cell level encryption.'€¢Experience of developing, implementing and maintaining backup and restore strategies.'€¢Experience of SSRS, SSIS & SSAS BI platforms.'€¢Scripting experience including, PowerShell.'€¢Experience of different database technologies including MySQL, Oracle and Big Data solutions.'€¢Experience of different cloud technologies; Microsoft Azure, AWS.'€¢Experience in working with ITIL methodologies.'€¢Working knowledge of windows Active Directory.'€¢Familiarity in using 3rd Party tools such as Idera, Solarwinds and RedGate product suites.
