IT Asset and License Manager - Telford - 3 Month Initial Contract

My client, a large Public Sector client based in Telford are looking to hire an IT Asset and License Manager to start in January 2018. The role can offer a competitive daily rate and the client are keen to move very quickly.

Role Purpose:

* To manage the daily and long-term strategic management of software and technology related hardware assets within the organisation

* Co-ordinate the planning, monitoring and recording of software and/or hardware licenses to ensure compliance with vendor contracts is maintained

* Assist in forming procurement strategies for license and compliance spend across the organisation and ensure best practice is applied and issues escalated where applicable

* Develop, implement and review process and procedures for tracking assets (hardware and software)

* Oversee Hardware quality control and re-appropriation activities to ensure best ROI

Key Responsibilities:

* Responsible for defining, governing and evolving the IT Asset management and License compliance activities.

* Responsible for establishing policies and processes for the end to end life cycle management of all IT assets

* Develop strategies and relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the business is gaining the best opportunity from IT Asset Management

* Manage all software licenses, warranties, maintenance agreements and vendor contracts against installations to ensure the company's legal compliance position

* Assist Commercial Directorates in developing and managing sourcing strategies for the organisation

* Assist in determining ROI and total cost of ownership for software and assets throughout the product life cycle (hardware and software)

* Monitor and analyse trends throughout out software and hardware assets and report on spend and attribution across the organisation where required

* Ensure all asset management tools are used appropriately and make recommendations where appropriate for system enhancements

* Responsible for communicating industry best practice in order to establish workable benchmarks for managing IT assets

* Effectively communicate asset management strategies to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear manner

* Where possible look to standardise and lower total costs of ownership for both hardware and software assets

Required Experience:

* BCS/ISEB Certification in SAM Essentials

* ITIL Service Management Foundation Certificate would be good to see from candidates.

* Candidates should also have at least 3 years' experience within a ITAM/SAM function.

* Experience of working within an asset management team Management or Project Management role within a process driven matrix managed organisation

* Knowledge of software asset management practices and processes in line with ISO19770-1, including Implementing and managing SAM processes and procedures

* Expert Licensing knowledge and product use rights (including complex vendors)

* Working with or for a Managed Service Provider

* Exposure to IT procurement and commercial contracts

* Ideally experienced with the use and implementation of any of the following toolsets: Snow, SCCM, Scalable, Axios, Blade Logic

* You must be able to demonstrate clear experience in creating effective License positions for desktop and data centre vendors and have Licensing experience with at least 3 of the following software vendors: Microsoft, Adobe, Autodesk, Symantec, Oracle, Citrix , VMware, IBM
