SSRS reports developer-3 months-Yorkshire-£300 per day

Happy new year! An opportunity has arisen for a data mart and SSRS developer initially on a 3 month contract. The successful candidate will be working in the Business Intelligence and Management Information Team in ICT at a company based in Yorkshire. The project is designed to provide MI BI to a range of business users. The company wants skills including the Microsoft MI BI stack, including SQL Server 2014 and 2016 and reporting Services (SSRS 2014 and 2017) as its reporting tool of choice. Their development environment is Visual Studio 2017.

Essential Skills

* Report development using Visual Studio 2017 or 2015 (SSDT)

* Report UI design skills - Data visualisation, usability, impact

* Git Source code control

* Professional knowledge of git branching strategy

* Working knowledge of one of github, stash or bitbucket

* A good understanding of SQL Server 2014 and/or 2016

* Strong understanding of interpreting relationships in relational databases

* Data extraction using SQL Services Integration Services (SSIS)

* Strong SQL skills -- T-SQL & stored procedures

* High performance SQL design

* Developing complex select statements from relational databases

* SQL window functions (ranking, aggregate, mathematical, date and time, etc.)

* Query analysis and tuning

* Data Mart Design

* Exception reporting management

* Quality assurance - report testing, data quality assessment

* Peer reviewing colleagues SQL, stored procedures, reports and other software assets

* Ability to work independently

* Technical Documentation

* Interpersonal communication skills

* Extracting reporting requirements from end user

* Willingness to learn University in-house ETL

Nice to have

* Visual Studio 2017 Report Development (SSDT)

* Experience of working on SITS student information system

* Understanding of TeamCity Continuous Integration server

* Work experience of stash

* Data Mart Design using Kimball methodology
