This company is one of the UK's leading gift import and distribution companies. Their retail customers range from independent gift shops to national chains. The range is divided in to 23 key brands across 7 product categories including clocks, home accessories, every day and occasion specific gifts, and photo frames.

As a result of the departure of an existing member of staff they have a vacancy within the Marketing Department for a Graphic Designer. The role of the Graphic Designer is to produce a variety of engaging, commercial marketing material ensuring the original design brief is met within the agreed time frame.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic self-starter and multi-tasker with the ability to take responsibility for multiple design projects without constant supervision. Experience within a commercial setting would be preferred however energy, passion and a willingness to learn and develop within the role is critical.

Skills and experience

- Design based degree or 2 years experience in a commercial graphic design role

- Energy and passion for all aspects of graphic design combined with an interest in working and improving their skills

- Commitment to working as part of a team

- An excellent communicator building strong working relationships across all areas of the business.

- Logical thinker with attention to detail and the ability to think creatively when interpreting a brief

- Energy and passion for all fields of graphic design combined with an interest in working and improving their skills

- Interest and enthusiasm for the gift and home accessory market including product and promotion

- Willingness to learn and develop within the role and to adapt to the changes within the business

- Excellent grasp of English

The Role

- The role will primarily involve the production of marketing material aimed at the giftware trade, supporting their territory, key account, national account and export business

- It will be almost entirely office based work but with some travel to support trade shows. As such the candidate will ideally be located within 20 miles of the Head Office.

- The Graphic Designer with be responsible for the creation of compelling and up to date marketing material across the business including adverts, brand catalogues, promotional material, company presentations

- In addition, internal communication including the weekly sales memo, the intranet and the extranet will be kept up to date and relevant by the Graphic Designer.

- Attendance at the trade shows in particular set up of the stand

- Support of the photographer during busy periods including associated administration of the data base

- Use and understanding of existing relevant company and industry information and design systems including the Adobe suite
