Interim CTO (DevOps) - 6-12 months - London - £120k

The Company

They are a leader in an exciting field that is currently being transformed rapidly by technology. Despite being around for over 20 years we have grown 10 fold in the past 3 years. The business is both online and instore and combines retail and service. Technology serves customers through websites and an app and their internal departments through their own bespoke software. The rapid growth means they are seeking a heroic game changer to help transform from an Agile type development structure to a full DevOps setup on a 6-12 month interim basis. There may be an ongoing consultancy role thereafter.

The role:

They are looking for an inspirational, results-driven and pro-active Interim Chief Technology Officer. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with the business leaders and the IT team to make the appropriate technology choices, implement the new processes, educate and develop the IT team and product owners, and assist in recruiting where necessary.

Reporting to the Chief Exec, the successful candidate will have had past experience of DevOps transformations and DevOps teams, be a keen learner, good teacher, have a 'can do' attitude and be prepared to hit the ground running and deliver a change plan in a clear and timely manner.

Role Responsibilities:

* Support the business in delivering change within IT to transition to DevOps

* Evaluates new technology and makes recommendations on solutions to improve the technological assets of a company

* To consistently evaluate technical efficiency and suggest changes as necessary

* The coaching and development of technical teams within IT and the product owners

* Working with the senior management team to make procedural improvements

Relevant skills and experience:

* Experience of change management to a DevOps environment is ESSENTIAL

* Strong leadership experience and change management within a retail or other consumer service is highly desirable, including building, managing and mentoring technical teams

* Possesses hands-on ability in appropriate technology fields, including business architecture, application programming, infrastructure service delivery etc.

* Experience with working directly with directors and investors with the capability of making proposals and communicating technical terminology to business partners

* Project or campaign management, design and execution within omni-channel environments is essential

* Strong leadership experience in Test Driven Development and Continuous Integration Environments

* A background in front-end development, back-end development and mobile apps (Android & iOS)

* Masters degree or above in Computer Science or equivalent is desirable

* Leading and collaborating cross-functional teams
