The Bank of England is not just a uniquely influential organisation - we’re also a uniquely rewarding place to develop a career. Our work is complex and high profile, and makes a positive impact on the lives of everyone in the UK. Join us, as part of a newly formed commercial team, and you will get to play an influential role across our technology division.

The challenge

Your aim will be to strengthen the Bank of England’s relationships with key technology vendors, ensuring we get as much value out of those relationships as possible. That will mean developing a vendor management framework for technology and creating and implementing effective sourcing strategies across all aspects of third party spend. You will also partner with senior management to drive the creation of our technology change portfolio, and will provide them with regular reporting on all major technology sourcing.

The requirements

We’re looking for an expert in vendor management issues, who knows how to analyse complex business requirements, develop effective sourcing strategies, and bring difficult commercial conversations to a successful close. Your skills and experience in this area will mean you are able to influence senior managers and technical experts, constructively challenge key stakeholders on their vendor management activity, and provide a wide range of colleagues with contract and vendor management support. You also need to have significant management experience within a virtual team, along with strong numerical and analytical skills and a proven ability to manage budgets, projects and risk.

The opportunity

Maintaining a stable economy for the people of the UK is a fascinating and ever-changing challenge. You’ll be working right at the heart of it, building relationships with key figures across the organisation, including division heads, project and programme managers, and commercial leads. You’ll also benefit from working in a strong learning environment, where you’ll get the training and support you need to develop your career even further.
