We're looking for an Emergency Diesel Generator Technical Specialist to support early phases of various nuclear construction projects in multiple locations in the United Kingdom; therefore, you must be willing to travel as part of this role.

Our civil nuclear business provides nuclear reactor vendors and utility operators with integrated, long-term support services and solutions spanning the whole reactor lifecycle, from concept design through to obsolescence management and plant-life extension. Safety-critical systems have been supplied to around 50% of the global nuclear power plants in service and we've been a key player in the nuclear industry for more than 50 years.

In this role, you will be providing assessment of nuclear Systems, Structures and Components (SSCs), within your area of expertise, against UK regulatory requirements. You will be the primary resource for Emergency Diesel Generators for the overall work packages.

Key Accountabilities

* Assess nuclear SSCs against UK regulatory requirement.

* Execute design substantiation reports to justify SSCs against UK regulatory requirements.

* Execute comparison studies and advise the Technical Authority and Design Authority on differences between international and UK Codes & Standards.

* Specify and execute engineering analysis and design work to address any SSC shortfalls against UK regulatory requirements.

* Analyse and report how SSCs in your area of expertise interact with other SSCs.

* Interact with the UK Office for Nuclear Regulation and the Environment Agency in your area of expertise.

* Provide technical leadership to multi-disciplinary teams to secure business advantage from the timely delivery of integrated technical solutions.

Qualifications

* Experience of devising engineering substantiation within claims-arguments-evidence regimes for systems, structures and components to UK regulatory requirements.

* Experience of Emergency Diesel Generators, ideally within the nuclear industry providing technical input and guidance.

* Engineering experience in support of the licensing of new civil nuclear plant systems within the UK regulatory environment.

* Previous interactions with the UK office for Nuclear Regulation and the Environment Agency.

* Experience of forming and sustaining positive and effective professional relationships in multidisciplinary and multi-national teams.

* Experience of interacting with civil nuclear power plant vendors and developers is desirable.

* Degree qualified (in a relevant discipline) and chartered or equivalent in experience.
