The Multi-Function Radar group is a multi-disciplined team which supports and develops enhancements to increase future capabilities of existing MFR systems. They also form the core expertise to support bids for any new MFR systems. The primary support is for the SAMPSON MFR which is the prime radar sensor for the Sea Viper Missile System used on the Type-45 Destroyer, currently in-service with the UK Royal Navy.

Major Tasks and Activities:

- Working effectively as a member of a small team of cross-site engineers

- Designing, documenting and reviewing software architecture and components using UML

- Implementing software components to coding standards which meet requirements, design and real-time performance aims

- Testing software products to ensure software quality is maintained with minimal re-work

- Integrating and final acceptance of software products on embedded target hardware

- Supporting the integration of the embedded target hardware into the MFR system

- Communicating effectively, identifying early potential risks, seeking clarification and providing feedback to the team leader

- Ensuring that a good working knowledge of Maritime Services related processes and product deliverables is maintained

Participating in continuous process improvement

Key Technical Skills:

- Graduate with several years software development experience.

- Knowledge of C, ADA or similar high level language.

- Familiarity with the phases of the software development lifecycle an advantage

- Familiarity with UML or similar high level design methodology an advantage.

- Software coding, integration and testing skills, ideally with a real time, multi-processor focus.

- Some knowledge of configuration control.

- Some knowledge of COTS hardware, device drivers and interface standards an advantage.
