These days, navigating the online job boards is like trying to make your way through a minefield.

You can either go for it, apply for as many copycat adverts as possible and end up in a world of salesy recruiters, copy and pasted job descriptions and irrelevant roles... or you can take your time, read relevant adverts and only apply for positions that cry out for somebody with your specific skills.

If you are somebody who prefers to take the latter approach then hopefully this advert resonates with you...

I am working in partnership with an award-winning Software Consultancy & Microsoft Partner in Central London who are looking to recruit a Lead Software Developer to their engineering team. The position will involve working with a range of blue chip end customers in the Finance, Banking and Retail space and is a role encompassing a range of core responsibilities.

First and foremost, the position is highly technical and will involve you working with a range of technologies including C#, ASP.NET MVC, Entity Framework, Web API, WCF, Azure and SQL Server. You will be working on the development of bespoke applications, enterprise in scale with complex architectural design underpinning them. You will be tasked with working across the entire lifecycle, getting involved in everything from initial R&D, software design, hands on programming, testing and delivery. Your role will involve acting as a technical escalation point, assisting the team and the end customer with any queries pertaining to the project as well as providing excellent technical leadership at all times.

Moreover, you will be expected to drive the use of engineering standards and coding best practice, ensuring that only software of the highest quality is delivered.

You will work with a range of modern software development principles and methodologies including Agile, Scrum, TDD, BDD, DevOps and Continuous Integration and will be encouraged to contribute ideas and alternative ways of working. Agile delivery is specifically important so any previous experience leading Agile projects or acting as a Scrum Master would be a huge asset.

You will essentially be a hybrid Developer/Consultant and this brings with it a range of unique opportunities to progress into either Architecture, Client Services or Team Management with each and every avenue being available. With that in mind, a passion for progression and personal development is something they like to see from all of their applicants.

Finally, you will be expected to engagewith a variety of stakeholders (both internally and externally) and will spend some time on client site. However, it is worth pointing out that 90% of their clients are London-based so you wont be expected to travel all over the UK every week like some consultancies expect you to do.

In return, they are offering a competitive base salary between £90,000 to £100,000 alongside a varied benefits package (10% pension, 25 days holiday, Bupa healthcare) and the opportunituy to genuinely progress within the organisation (note that I realise every advert says that, so take my word for it on this one).

So if you've gotten to this point in the advert and have managed to avoid all of the mines (hypothetical of course) then I would be happy to have a chat if you want to follow this up.

I can be contacted by calling either 0191 338 7540 or 07943721308. Alternatively, you can send me an email to [email protected] or search for 'Liam Haghighat' on LinkedIn (I am pretty easy to find!).

Anything discussed will remain completely confidential.
