Network and Firewall Security Engineer - Checkpoint, Juniper, Fortinet, Cisco

Network and Firewall Security Engineer (Checkpoint, Juniper, Fortinet, Cisco), a hardworking individual from a network/infrastructure support background looking to pursue a career in Cyber Security.

The Role

As a member of the Security Operations Centre (SOC), you will be part of a team responsible for the delivery of 24/7/365 IT security services to a range of clients.

You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of client IT infrastructures, and protecting corresponding information systems from internal and external infiltration, attack or compromise. Additionally, you will be responsible for periodic and ad-hoc assessments of host vulnerability and application security.

You will use your network security knowledge to focus on the delivery of Firewall and Intrusion Detection/Prevention services (IDS/IPS) and assist with investigations into security alerts arising from client Security Information & Event Management systems (SIEM).

Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will have experience in IT Network Security/IP Networking, and a demonstrated proficiency with a range of firewalls, including Checkpoint, Juniper, and Cisco Firewalls.

Experience conducting host vulnerability assessments and in the use of SIEM platforms (eg. Huntsman, RSA Envision, ArcSight, Unix) is desirable, but not required

Salary and Benefits

The Salary is negotiable dependent on experience. As this role is a 24*7*365 position shift work is required and there is an additional shift allowance and excellent benefits package.

The Ideal Candidate Personal Profile

Previous experience working in a Security Operations environment is not essential, but desirable. This role is perfect for a candidate who has demonstrated an interest in the security field as a part of their future career as our client is prepared to provide you with the building blocks for this career. This is a non-static role within their extensive security operations centre, with the intention of providing you with a skill-set that encompasses all areas of IT Security.

Desirable qualities include excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a service delivery mentality and relevant industry experience (including client engagement skills, time and expectation management).
