Deskside / Infrastructure Technician - Windows 7/8 - PC/Notebook/Printers - Installs - Updates - Relocations - Network Troubleshooting - iOS Support - Antivirus knowledge- Health and Safety - Oil and Gas

My client, a leading multinational Oil and Gas corporation have a fantastic opportunity for an IT Deskside Technician with proven experience in supporting Windows 7/8 PC's, notebooks, printers and other PC peripherals to join their team on a long term contract basis.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the desk-side IT services for users including provision of equipment, network connectivity and resolution of problems. The role also includes "hands & eyes" support for the IT infrastructure at the site including network services, servers, and storage.

In addition, you will interface directly with the business in relation to service provision, provide assistance in the resolution of complex technical problems, provide users with training & productivity advice and provide project support as required.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

* Installation, moves and decommissioning of desk equipment (workstations, docking stations, monitors, local printers, peripherals, network printers & MFDs and desk phones).

* Break/fix support for desktop equipment, software, printers/MFDs, IntelaTrac devices and company-owned smartphones.

* Provide training/productivity advice for customers in the use of standard software (MS-Office tools) and productivity tools such as SharePoint, OneNote and Lync in the Windows and Apple iOS environments.

* Staging, racking, installation, set-up and patching of IT infrastructure such as servers, network, storage devices and audio-visual equipment.

* Hands & eyes break/fix support for IT infrastructure equipment such as server, storage and network equipment.

* Liaising with global IT support teams to commission/decommission infrastructure equipment and to resolve desk-side and infrastructure issues.

* Liaising with vendors and manufacturers to resolve hardware issues.

* Using the company provided IT systems for incident, change and work order administration, and inventory management.

* Complete In-line Controls tests such as asset verification.

* May be required to work for projects outside core hours (ie, evenings or weekends) on an ad-hoc basis

* Manual handling is a part of the job function so it is expected that the applicant will be fit and healthy.

Other responsibilities may include:

o Assist with significant PC installs / moves related to office moves.

o Ad-hoc small work items or project work such as supporting the rollout of new technology

o Supporting infrastructure changes being performed by the Group (sometimes outside normal working hours)

Qualification/Skills Required:

* Proficient in supporting Window 7 & 8 client environment

* Possess working knowledge in Outlook

* Proficient in WINDOW-based application such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint

* Preferably two years experience in PC/printers support & maintenance.

* Proficient in English (written & oral)

* Pleasant personality & positive attitude, Effective end user communication, analytical skills & customer oriented

* Knowledge of Symantec Antivirus/ Attachmate Extra Program etc.

* Basic knowledge in troubleshooting network connections with some understanding of basic TCP/IP concepts.

* Basic knowledge in supporting iOS devices (i.e., iPhone and iPad).
