Senior Digital Developer - DVSA - Nottingham

We're looking for a Senior Developer who can join one of our Scrum Teams delivering digital services for the customers of the DVSA. We're growing our digital delivery team in our Nottingham city centre office and this is a great opportunity to join the team as we build it.

You'll help deliver the DVSA mission of keeping Britain's citizens safe through a lifetime of driving. This will be challenging and exciting as we modernise services relied upon by millions of people.

You'll be a problem solver, with the ability to assess and adapt and you'll be comfortable with a TDD and/or BDD approach. You'll have a good understanding of Git version control and will have had exposure to the full software development lifecycle. CI/CD experience is desirable because that's how we're working on our AWS platforms.

We're looking for Developers that:

* Have experience and detailed knowledge of one of the following: PHP, Java, Ruby, Python, JavaScript, Scala or Go.

* Have experience and knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript frameworks.

* Have knowledge of technologies used for web applications, e.g. databases, backups, CDNs and search, and of UNIX-like operating systems, e.g. Linux and/or Mac OS

* Proven experience of delivering successful development outcomes in comparable digital transactional services

* Understand of software design principles

* Understand the basics of web security

* Are committed to building quality into the solution and advocating the need for code quality through TDD and BDD

* Will implement APIs into our truly cloud based solution

* Will help adapt and improve our service based on user feedback

* Can take the lead based on technical specialism and co-ordinate team members

* Have the ability to work with senior stakeholders effectively and amiably, articulating complex technical matters to non-technical stakeholders
