Software Engineer - Production Environments

Our client is leading a new generation of energy providers with a fresh outlook and a unique way of doing business. They believe in creating a brighter future and doing right by their customers.

The company have been featured in Wired magazine for developing software that shatters the status quo. Now, they’re looking for multiple Software Engineers to join them in Bristol or London and engineer tools that improve the production and deployment capabilities for all teams within the business.

As a Software Engineer, you will:

- Help to ensure that the engineering teams have optimal conditions to build and operate high-performing, reliable, secure and scalable software

- Get involved in an array of tasks, from improving deployment automation and infrastructure configuration to working directly with teams on their code

- Work on defined assignments directly with teams that aim to boost their operations, leaving documentation and skills in place when you leave

- Contribute to on-call support as an escalation point

- Drive operational excellence and best practice around service performance, deployment, monitoring and availability

Interested? To be considered, you will need:

- Extensive software engineering and system design experience (our client uses Scala, Clojure, Node and React)

- Experience of distributed systems and data streaming architecture

- Previous experience of scripting languages and automation practices

- Demonstrable experience across DevOps skill-sets in Agile and XP environments

- AWS and/or GCP experience at scale

- Experience of CD and/or CI tooling and delivery best practices

- Previous experience of Kubernetes and container orchestration

- Network and security knowledge

- The ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and tools
