They say that the average job seeker spends approximately 90 seconds reviewing a job ad before deciding if the role is worth applying for. With that in mind, I wanted to craft an ad that is (hopefully) short and sweet, but detailed enough to make an impression.

Here goes nothing...

I am working closely with a leading Tech Consultancy in the UK who are looking to add an experienced Lead UX Designer to their existing development function. The role is based out of their Edinburgh office but will be heavily based on customer site in and around Edinmburgh and possibly Glasgow. You will be the go to person for all UX-related needs and will become part of some enormous greenfield projects. This role is crucial to their 2017 end of year recruitment drive...

Why?

Well that part is simple.

They, like other successful custome-centric businesses, realise that UX is crucial to how an organisation's products and services engage with their customer base.

Joining an existing team of UX Designers, as Lead UX Designer you'll be tasked with solving a range of complex problems, whilst helping define the standards and frameworks to be used by the team. You will be expected to bring visions to life, working with Software Engineers and Product Owners to create new and exciting ways of improving UX across the board for your customer.

The UX team work across different sectors rather than being in just one (e.g. Commercial, Finance, Government), so you will be given the opportunity to move between projects, giving you a lot of variety within the role. You will take up a leadership position, leading a team of 4-8 Designers at any given time.

You will work with a range of external stakeholders, helping them understand the important of UX throughout the project lifecycle and will be on-site to help field any questions and guide them as and when necessary. It goes without saying that you will have a strong portfolio of work demonstrating your considerable understanding of UX, highlighting your impressing wireframing experience (ideally detailed high-fidelity wireframing) and strong prototyping skills. But ultimately it is your research skills, sketching, and mock ups of digital user experiences that set you apart from the crowd.

Moreover, you will be a strategic thinker and somebody who can contribute new ideas rather than simply improve existing ideas. You will be somebody with a portfolio's full of modern, smart, responsive, Mobile and Desktops designs, showcasing your best work and demonstrating why you would be an excellent fit for this role.

You should have excellent experience with the Adobe Creative Suite (Dreamweaver, Creative Cloud, Illustrator, Photoshop etc.) as well as knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript. You will have experience of designing to framework libraries like Bootstrap, Foundation or Skeleton and ultimately have a passion for all things technology.

You will be given the opportunity to take up a leadership role within a key UK-based customer and will be given creative freedom and autonomy to manage the UX function of the prokect. Moreover, you will be rewarded with a salary between £50,000-£55,000 as well as a flexible benefits package (15% of your base salary) that can be taken as cash.

Ultimately, you will be given the opportunity to create something with your own personal stamp all over it - all you need to do is call 07943721308 or 0191 338 7540. Alternatively, send me an email to [email protected] or find me on LinkedIn.
