Job Title: ICT Software Engineer
Location: Uxbridge, London
Salary: £37,293 to £41,025 dependent on experience
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent, Three posts available
Information and Communications Technology plays a crucial role in delivering and supporting the huge range of services provided by the Council to their Residents in Hillingdon.
The Council is transforming its ICT structure and introducing Agile Working Practices to advance technology and digital services. This transformation is taking place whilst effectively maintaining the on-going delivery of high quality ICT services and digital capabilities enabling us to continue providing excellent services to their Residents.
These are exciting times for ICT in Hillingdon and they are looking to fill a number of senior posts that can lead and embed these changes.
Key Responsibilities:
This is a key role in the design, programming, integration, testing, documentation and maintenance of new or amended software systems within agreed development and security standards and processes in an Agile framework.
The Application Developer will translate requirements into workable programming code, and maintain and develop programmes for use in the business.
You will be working in Agile sprints, collaborating with colleagues across different work streams, creating or using open source software and APIs, and supporting legacy Applications when you are not engaged in Agile sprints.
About the Candidate:
Experience in developing software solutions using different software languages or technologies
Strong knowledge and experience supporting business critical COTS (Commercial off the Shelf) Applications
Expertise in one or more technologies or languages i.e. PL/SQL, JavaScript, C#, C++, Python, PHP, Ruby on Rails, HTML, HTML5, .NET, MS PowerShell
The following demonstrable experience and skills would also be highly desirable:
Experience in developing software solutions using different software languages or technologies
Experience developing Application integration using APIs
Experience using one or more technologies or languages i.e. PL/SQL, JavaScript, ,Python, PHP, Ruby on Rails, HTML5, XML, CSS, NET, MS PowerShell, SQL,MS SSIS, batch file scripting, Business Intelligence technologies, SAP Business Object’ 4.1 or higher, data warehousing techniques, ETL processing, application embedded development tools
The following demonstrable experience and skills would also be highly desirable
Experience in a DevOps Environment
Knowledge and experience in data modelling and data architecture
You will have strong and effective communication skills be able to follow set the standards and best practices, and provide clear and effective documentation
