Linux/VMware Engineer - Remote

* Location: Remote - Ireland

* Salary: Negotiable Daily Rate

* Contract Type: Initial 6 Month Contract (Strong Potential for Contract Extension)

Our client a leading Financial Services Organisation are looking for an experienced Linux/VMware Engineer join their team on initial 6 Month contract with strong potential for further contract extensions. This is a remote role!

Overview of the Tokenization project

* They are updating/changing their tokenization app and will be using an HP system.

* They will be troubleshooting the HSM and will be responsible for the "care of the appliance" but not the OS (vendor supports the OS)

Job Summary:

Required Skills:

* 5+ years of experience as a Network Engineer

* Solid hands-on technical background

* Knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMWare 5.x/6.x)

* Experience with system management tools

* Knowledge of Microsoft server operating systems (Windows 2008/2012)

* Knowledge of Windows infrastructure technologies (AD, DNS, MS Clustering)

* Experience with Tier I SAN storage (EMC), provisioning storage groups and LUNs

* Proficient with Windows, Linux, and VMWare Admin

Experience

* Be experienced in installing, troubleshooting, maintaining, operating, and administering enterprise data center servers and operating systems including ESX VMWare, Microsoft Windows Server, Linux (SuSe, RedHat, ...)

* Experienced working with Citrix, EMC SAN, and expanding VM environment.

* Experienced with equipment configuration, diagnosis, problems report tracking, assisting with diagnosis to repair, performance monitoring, software updates, preventative maintenance, facilitating replacement of failed equipment.

* Serves as a Level 2 support for server problems including: -Windows [2008 / 2012] -Linux (SUSE and Red Hat, current versions) -VM Ware questions/problems, server applications.

* Minimum of 5 years of VMware experience including host platform security, server consolidation, and server virtualization.

* Bare metal install and support of VMware ESXi. VMware Certified Professional (VCP) is a plus.

* Configuration and support of Windows 2012 Server, and Exchange Server.

Job Responsibilities:

* Maintain reliable, secure and high performing systems in a multi-domain, multi-site Windows Active Directory, EMC storage arrays, VMware vSphere 5.5 and 6.0, Windows 2008/2012 servers.

* Maintain, upgrade, and implement improvements to the VMWare virtual infrastructure.

* Maintain VM templates for building servers in the virtual environment.

* Proactively monitor event logs for changes or errors and take appropriate actions to resolve issues.

* Log all service requests, including detailed problem descriptions, updates and resolutions into our incident tracking system.

* Manage available virtual and storage resources within the infrastructure environment.

* Collaborate with team members to resolve problems.

* Perform upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages as necessary.

* Create and maintain system documentation for updates made to the infrastructure environment.

* Additional duties/assignments as assigned and prioritized by management.

* Design and support diverse IT business solutions, including: Virtualization, Security, and Cloud based deployments

* Design the expansion, and support of our Co-Location and Hosting solutions

* Develop and implement Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity solutions

Certifications in Microsoft Windows; SuSE and RedHat Linux, and ESX VMWare a plus
