Our client are currently looking for an experienced Nagios Development & Security Designer to work on an initial 3 month contract at their site in Swindon.
Applicants must have the following skills:
Essential:
-Experience in working with Nagios range of firewall and security infrastructure
-Experience in working with industry standard network management protocols (e.g. SNMP, SNMPTRAP, SSH, WGET, HTTP/S as polling commands)
Nice-to-have:
-Experience in working with EMC device management
-Understanding of the principles and application of all common logging formats
-Experience in coding in some of the following languages, in a Nagios environment; Perl, Regex, Linux commands, BASH Script, HTML
-Experience in working with vBroker and vMC products
-Experience in working with McAfee range of firewall and security infrastructure management products, e.g. McAfee 5500 web gateways and 5500 DLP appliances in a EMC and Nagios environment.
-Experience in working with some or all of the vendor's range of security infrastructure management products.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following tasks:
oInformation gathering through dialogue, workshops and investigation with vendor, customer or other internal teams, to enable a full active monitoring wrapon new devices and services.
oEnsure new devices and services, either individually or as part of a project, receive full monitoring of all relevant health and operational parameters for deployment onto Nagios.
oTranslate monitoring requirements into Nagios SNMP commands, exec SSH commands, HTTPS, HTTP or WGET to extract attribute data and alerting details.
oDetermine thresholds and reporting parameters.
oPrepare, submit and advocate at the 'Nagios Forum' the source templates to be used by the Nagios coding team for a full monitoring wrap based on the data collected in the above steps.
oRepresent and promote authored Nagios design documents through the customer approval process.
oAs part of the Security Team, share knowledge and provide training as necessary.
oLiaise with other security tools teams (IMPSS), to share ideas & developments
oAbility to make decisions even when faced with ambiguity
oAbility to engage and communicate clearly in order to motivate and inspire people to deliver
oEngage in proactive risk management, identify potential issues and where necessary take appropriate action to mitigate risk
