An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Test Lead to join the BTS Value Testing Services Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for testing the end to end business capability of technology solutions.

What you will be doing

You will collaborate across business divisions to build and maintain a clear understanding of business processes and capabilities within a given focus area, that will provide a persistent frame of reference for determining test coverage.

You will capture that knowledge into a repository to provide a persistent source of information, that you will maintain and evolve over time, to enable you to clearly articulate the significance of each process and the impact of failure to the business

Through collaboration within BTS, and externally as required, you will capture a view of the technology that supports those business processes and capabilities so that you can clearly articulate the risk profile of the landscape and the likelihood of failure.

You will identify test environment requirements to conduct end to end testing, and support Test Delivery Managers to get this requested from environment team

By co-ordinating with other end to end solution test leads, you will define test data requirements, and ensure that pre-requisite data is sourced and/or created and managed in the an efficient way to support your testing goals

You will lead a BTS E2E Test Team in the delivery of E2E testing for specific projects, including evaluation, estimation, test preparation and test execution

Through co-ordination of business SMEs and UAT specialists, you will prepare and execute the E2E testing of any given project to enable their acceptance of the solution (consider as UAT co-ordination)

You will provide expert advice to Senior Management on the alignment of IT solutions to the business processes/ capabilities, support Test Delivery Managers in planning and budgeting for the testing of those solutions

You will align with other End to End Test Leads to ensure consistency and cohesiveness across all business process/capability groupings

Along with other E2E Test Leads, you will build and nurture a team of Test Analysts (onshore and offshore) to be able to consistently, efficiently and effectively prepare and execute E2E Testing, as the IT landscape evolves

What we are looking for:

The candidate will have extensive experience of software testing, giving them the confidence to effectively and consistently answer the following questions : what needs testing and why? Who needs to test and why? When does testing need to happen and why? How to test and why? You will consider yourself an excellent tester

You will have experience of test automation and know its appropriateness and limitations

You will also have working knowledge of Test Management tools (e.g. HP ALM, qTest) and Application Lifecycle Management tools (e.g. JIRA)

Working knowledge of Collaboration tools including SharePoint, Lync, Yammer, Webex, etc. will be of valuable to us

We are looking for someone who has previous experience of leading small test teams (2 - 4 resources)

Someone that has knowledge of Context Driven Testing will be well positioned to contribute positively to achieving the department vision for E2E Testing

Having a good understanding of business processes relating to the Education domain, and Assessment in particular, is desirable

This is a new role that demands the breaking of well-formed patterns of behaviour and you will need the ability to establish the relationships across the organisation that will lead to those patterns being broken. The ability to test will always be constrained, to some extent, by a lack of knowledge, resource, environments, data, etc. You will have a character that welcomes the challenge of continuously plotting/revising a course to deliver the best possible testing despite those constraints, and be able pro-actively manage the consequences.
