Sifting through an advert for a Business Analyst role can be a bit of a challenge in itself... and that's before you even get to speak to the hiring company! Whether its copy and pasted job descriptions, recruiters trying to sound technical (I am a recruiter so I am aware this could potentially be ironic) or badly written sales pitches, the majority of them fail to do one simple thing...

Explain what the company are actually looking for!

So with that in mind, I wanted to take you on an 'applicant journey' (bear with me)...

That journey begins with an enterprise organisation in the Finance/Banking space in the Cheshire area who are looking to continue their ongoing Agile transformation project by hiring a Senior Business Analyst.

They are one of the largest organisations in Europe and are known for their collaborative and engaging company culture. Retention is a big element as to why they have remained relevant in a highly competitive market and this role represents an extremely strategic part of their 2017 hiring process.

Their current project portfolio is focused around cutting edge technology to enable them to continuously innovate and this has been recognised by them winning numerous awards for delivering high-quality applciations across the Web and Mobile space. They have a highly collaborative working environment and this role will sit at the heart of that, helping shape the way they utilise Agile methodologies to improve their delivery processes.

That journey continues with their requirements... which are pretty detailed. So rather than copying and pasting them into this job ad, I am going to strip everything back and focus on the key things that they are looking for from any prospective applicants:

* Agile - They are a business who are genuinely passionate about Agile and their current technology function is moving towards an Agile environment - or their own version of it! At the moment, they are sort of hybrid (Agile & Waterfall) so experience of either development methodology would be highly beneficial.

* Stakeholder Management - Although this company aren't a Consultancy, this role is highly stakeholder-facing and will involve engaging with both technical and commercial stakeholders on a fairly consistent basis. You must be able to demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to manage a range of stakeholders (up to c-level) throughout the delivery lifecycle as this will form a huge part of your day-to-day role.

* Technical Understanding - This role isn't technical but due to the collaborative nature of their team, you will be working closely with Software Engineers, Mobile Developers and UX Designers so an understanding of basic elements of the software lifecycle are important. A background working on Web/Mobile application delivery is therefore hugely beneficial for this role. Moreover, any direct experince of Salesforce CRM would be hugely beneficial.

* Communication - Following on from my point about managing stakeholders, communication in general (both written and oral) is absolutely crucial for this role. Your soft skills will be of paramount importance as your role will involve building and nurturing relationships with varying people in the business and the ability to pull together requirements and then present them is vitally important. Your role will fundamentally imvolve the representation of complex concepts and requirements in both visual and spoken form so a proven track record working on similar eCommerce-based projects is really important should you want to be considered for this position.

So you are now probably thinking... 'Where does this journey end?'.

Well that bit is entirely up to you.

If you want the journey to continue to a phone call with me, then give me a call on either 0191 338 7540 or 07943721308.

Alternatively, if you would prefer to send me a copy of your CV or even an inquisitive email then you can try [email protected].

However, if you would prefer to end this journey here then all I can say is thank you for reading this advert!

Anything discussed will be kept confidential.

**Please note that this organisation does not offer visa sponsorship. All applicants must be eligible to work in the UK to be considered for this position.
