My market leading and award winning client in Birmingham is looking for an experienced IT Solutions Manager / Programme Manager to join their growing IT team at their South Birmingham HQ.

I am looking for an experienced Senior Programme Manager / IT Solutions Manager to manage the overall programme of on-going projects and strategic objectives of the Group IT development team, supporting the global business with delivery of Operational Systems and BI, Reporting and Analytics.

Working within the IT Development team to lead the project management and business analysis team; to coordinate multiple projects, ensuring that the work products and processes of the project teams meet the defined standards and deliver to business requirements.

Key responsibilities:

*To lead a team of project managers and business analysts to deliver diverse development projects across Operational and BI and Reporting/Analytics systems,

*To work closely with business stakeholders and product owners to scope and define business requirements, mobilising complex programmes.

*To prepare and maintain programme plans, tracking progress in terms of delivery to time and against budgets.

*To work closely with development managers to assist in resource planning and allocation, effort estimation and time and cost tracking for all project work.

*To support the development of project management structure and skillset among project managers and other business leads, supporting work stream leads and Project Managers in developing detailed project plans

*To actively support the development of improved management processes, ensuring effective control, governance and resource planning in line with business requirements and demand

*To manage issues, risks, changes and assumptions; recognise & mitigate potential risk though the implementation of effective programme governance.

*To oversee the scoping, planning, design, development, testing, user acceptance testing, training and implementation, deployment, handover to support teams for all projects;

*To be the clear leader on projects and to ensure full visibility of activity; additionally produce project communication documentation and presentations such as Terms of Reference, roadmaps, kick off presentations, scope documentations and project status summaries.

*To ensure projects are transitioned to business as usual across the IT department.

*Acts as line manager to a team of project managers; providing guidance, support and mentoring to project managers and business analysts on process, managing project and deliverables

*To actively support the development and all aspects of the PM's and BA's performance under direct management control

Key skills and experience required:

*Previous proven experience as an IT Solutions Manager, Programme Manager or other managerial position

*Considerable experience of planning, monitoring and controlling projects using either Prince 2 methodology or project related methodology; and level of experience in the successful management of major and complex business change program

*Excellent project/programme management skills with ability to manage complex inter-dependent activities in a busy business-as-usual environment

*Ability and experience in managing multi-disciplined teams in a pressured environment including Team management experience, comfortable matrix managing large project teams.

*Able to identify and utilise the necessary skills and resources to achieve the agreed specifications within both cost and timescales.

*A proven track record of successful project on-time implementation in a software environment.

*Demonstrable experience of mentoring and coaching team members; ability to foster motivation within the project team to meet tight deadlines

*The ability to have a strong impact and influence key decisions

*Proficient in the MS Office Suite including MS Project.

*Degree qualified or relevant professional qualification (Prince 2 Practitioner or equivalent project management qualification)
