Role: Full stack Java Developer
Location: Sheffield
Length of contract: 6 months (initially)
Rate: £400-£450 daily rate
My client are looking for a Full stack Java developer to join their team working on an exciting opportunity in central Sheffield. You would be part of a cross disciplinary team consisting of delivery manager, product manager, user researcher, UX designer, content designer, technical architect and developers. We are interested in speaking with talented, tenacious individuals looking to take lead in creating world-class services in the Prison and Probation environment.
What will you be doing?
As a Full stack Java developer you will work closely with designers to deliver rapid prototypes as well as production code for which you'll ensure high accessibility standards are upheld. We expect familiarity with modern frameworks and languages, as well as working practices such as TDD, continuous integration, continuous delivery and DevOps. You will need to have strong skills in web development and want to work within multidisciplinary agile teams of developers, designers and researchers focused on products.
What skills/experience should you have?
* Highly experience Java engineer
* Worked extensively with Java 7/8 (they use Java 8)
* Working knowledge of unix-like operating systems such as Linux and/or Mac OS X
* Full stack Java development experience (decent understanding of Javascript/Angular JS/React/NodeJS)
* Highly experienced building RESTful web services/JSON
* Git source control
* Understanding of the use of Responsive Web Design
Desirable experience:
* Search software experience using Sonar/lucene
* Knowledge of relational and non-relational database systems
* True full stack experience (expert in Javascript)
* Experience of building and scaling high-traffic websites
* Experience of working with Java Spark
* Worked in Dev-Ops environments using Docker/Puppet/Chef
* Experience mentoring or helping colleagues optimise their code
