Senior Developer in Test required for an initial 3-6 month contract based in Osterley

The opportunity

The opportunity would see you join the Mobile Client software development team (Sky Go / Sky Q), which forms part of a much wider collection of teams that develop the Mobile platform and associated clients. Together we use cutting edge, highly scalable, technology to delight our customers with online services which allow them to consume Sky content online and on numerous hardware platforms.

As part of the Mobile Client team you would:

* Contribute and develop our automated functional test capability

* Influence the direction of our test capability

* Champion and coach peers in testing best practices and best of breed technology

* Quality should be at the heart of everything you do. Along with the wider team, you'll be responsible for ensuring quality and security of the application. This will include writing and maintain existing automation tests and helping drive forward our efforts in BDD.

You would also:

* Conduct exploratory testing

* Take an active role in user story definition assisting business stakeholders with acceptance criteria

* Participate in regular showcases of new work to the our product owners and other business stakeholders

* Take a pro-active role with production issues and release management

* Strive for continuous improvement within the team

Skills and Experience:

It is essential that you can immediately add value to our team and be able to contribute to our team's velocity from day one. Therefore we think it is essential that you have knowledge and experience of as many of the following items as possible:

* Expert knowledge and experience of creating , scaling and maintaining automated test software for mobile applications with experience using;

* Cucumber & Gherkin Language (ATDD)

* Ruby programming experience

* Appium / Calabash

* Device farm management in a lab environment

* Solid experience with TDD, BDD, and ATDD

* RESTful web services (JSON/XML)

* Xcode,/Swift

* Ability and experience designing and implementing test harness frameworks

* Skill at precision questioning; then extending the questioning by diving into coding (ask the why's, what's and how's of the functions and features under test)

* Experience working on an agile team producing rapid iterations of products (Scrum, Kanban, Scrum-ban)

* Experience with capacity estimation

* Ability to define (and develop automation scripts based on) functional and non-functional (client performance, resilience, video quality) user stories and acceptance criteria

* Solid Mobile Testing background - both manual and automated testing with strong experience of the core mobile OS's.

Personal Skills

* Organised and self-motivated with an ability to prioritise and manage workload

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with both business and technical audiences

* Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to use them in consensus building

* Ability to innovate and adapt based on team needs
