Job Title: Cobol Consultant
Daily Rate: £450 - £500
Contract Length: 6 Months
Location: Manchester
The Role
We are currently looking for an experienced Cobol Consultant to join an exciting project based in Manchester for an initial 6 month contract. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in the following areas:
*COBOL/CICS delivery
*Project Delivery
*Training/Mentoring
*Stakeholder Management
*Mainframe (COBOL/CICS) Developer/Analyst Programme
The ideal candidate will have come from a Cobol Developer background and progress to a consultant position. You will have the responsibility for technical delivery (design and build). They will coach Bank team members and provide robust governance to 3rd party suppliers.
Essential Experience
*Extensive COBOL/CICS delivery experience.
*Advising projects engaging with the 3rd party developers around coding standards
*Making sure what has been developed aligns to the original design and that it's cost effective/the client are getting value for money.
*Leadership qualities are key along with the technical background experience of CICS/COBOL.
*Strong experience in leading others and working with 3rd parties in order to achieve timely and quality software change
*Experience and knowledge of system analysis in a structured environment
*Understanding of core platforms and integration with other technologies and systems and the ability to both understand technical code and processes both as workflow diagram and to conceptualise it as a solution
*Experience in design and build governance and the setting of platform standards
*A good track record in training and coaching individuals on development and delivery disciplines
*Good written skills with the ability to produce clear and concise documentation
*The ability to work with a structured and methodical approach, combined with an enquiring mind.
*An understanding of, and a willingness to adhere to, formal change control procedures and disciplines.
*Evidence of being an active member of a technical community and providing improvements and increased value to an organisation
