Communication:

*To effectively convey information and solutions to users of varying IT skills and backgrounds

*To collect all relevant information when referring queries to colleagues in IT Services and elsewhere within the client

*To inform colleagues in IT Services and elsewhere in the client of potential and actual service failures, equipment faults, or any other problems encountered whilst on duty

Teamwork and Motivation:

*To work as part of a team, supporting other team members and liaising with colleagues in IT Services and elsewhere within the client

*To provide cover for and assist colleagues in the Academic & Administrative IT Support teams, as required

*To take part in arranged training and team meetings

Service Delivery:

*To provide first and second line technical and user support, either in person, by email or by telephone, using remote assistance tools where appropriate

*To install and upgrade School-owned hardware for staff and researchers, including PCs, Apple Macs laptops, printers and peripherals; and to record all installations, moves and disposals, updating the relevant inventory

*To install and upgrade the computing desktop, including the installation of non-standard software and transfer of data files, where required

*To resolve as many calls as possible at first response, and to log and refer as required all support calls in the call logging system, ensuring users receive a high quality service as defined in published service levels

*To manage IT accounts for users, in line with IT Services policies and procedures

*To respond to and track progress of all support calls in the call logging system, and to keep users apprised of progress when requests for assistance cannot be resolved within the defined resolution times

Knowledge & Experience:

*To have the knowledge and skills required to provide first and second line technical and user IT support

*To have the knowledge and skills required to install and upgrade hardware and software for desktop computing

Investigation, Analysis and Research:

*To diagnose and troubleshoot faults reported with IT hardware and the computing desktop and to refer calls to colleagues in IT Services as necessary

*To diagnose and provide basic troubleshooting for faults reported with network problems, specialist applications including teaching, learning and MIS applications, and to refer calls to colleagues in IT Services as necessary

Teaching and Training:

*To arrange and carry out individual training sessions with users to demonstrate and enable them to use School-owned IT equipment, software and utilities in the School's computing environment
