Whenever I speak to prospective candidates and ask them how their job search is going, I always hear the same complaints... adverts, adverts and you guessed it... adverts! Namely, that adverts never describe what the candidate will be doing!

So being a fan of breaking the mould, I thought I would strip this advert down to its basics and focus on the Who, the What and the How...

WHO THEY ARE:

'They' are a leading Software Consultancy providing state of the art bespoke software to a range of customers - those customers span the finance, banking, public sector and retail industries to be exact!

They have won numerous awards for their commitment to technical excellence and are going through a sustainable period of growth. This role is primarily due to an influx of greenfield development and they are looking to hire skilled Lead Developers to add value to an already strong foundation.

They are located bang in the middle of Newcastle (10 minutes from Central Station to be exact) with excellent commuter links and have modern offices and a friendly working environment.

WHAT THEY NEED:

This part is simple... they need experienced Lead Software Developers with a 'full stack' skillset and a background developing enterprise-scale applications using the Microsoft technologies stack.

The majority of your work will be greenfield so it is important that you have a clear skillset in new development projects, specifically cloud-based application development (Azure, AWS), web development (ASP.NET MVC, AngularJS, ReactJS) and core C#/SQL programming.

They have a big focus on a 'quality first' approach to software development so it is crucial that you are able to demonstrate an understanding of coding standards and best practice as your role will involve ensuring that all solutions are developed with quality in mind.

They also operate a fully Agile development environment with a focus on Scrum and a background in modern development processes (DDD, TDD, BDD, DevOps) would be highly beneficial.

Moreover, any experience in a customer facing business (Digital Agency, Tech Consultancy) would be ideal and more senior applicants would be expected to work with senior stakeholders (both internal and external) so excellent communication skills are a must!
