Technical Analyst / Architect - Mobile Apps (iOS, Android), Front end, Digital platforms, VOD

Duration: 6 Months

The Analyst will be responsible foremost for the breakdown of business requirements and solution design into themes and user stories for distribution across application development teams. Solution implementation must be achieved in line with the prevailing technical strategies and technical governance of OTT Global TV Platforms and Apps Software Engineering, TVDP, and Sky Technology. Through liaison with Product Owners, Architects and Development teams, the Analyst must always seek to preserve customer experience and application reliability as a part of any piece of work to be undertaken on one of the various products Group Connected Apps is responsible for. The Analyst will also be responsible for seeking and facilitating opportunities for continuous improvement of the application at both a technical and customer level. The Analyst will be responsible for requirements gathering, documentation and the conveying of those requirements and their technical solutions into Agile Scrum teams; supporting pre, mid and post development phases.

Key Responsibilities

1 Requirements Gathering, Solution Design and Planning

* Ownership of the Analysis process for particular work items taken into the Group Connected Apps roadmap from initiation

* Working alongside Solution Architects to assist the design of robust, customer experience based solutions for work coming into the Group Connected Apps department

* Facilitation of workshops with Architects, Product Owners and Developers to ratify the feasibility and desirability of solutions designed

* Facilitation of estimation sessions with multiple development teams and Product stakeholders to obtain both high-level ROM estimates, as well as committed low-level estimates

* Working alongside Delivery Managers and Project Managers to effectively schedule work into the Development roadmap considering project goals and technical feasibility

* Documentation to track the timeline of a project's development in terms of Product scope, RAID information, open questions, solution design and agreed implementation details

* Engagement with stakeholders across the analysis period to ensure implementation and scope are in-line with the wider business direction and aims

* Regular showcasing of solutions/implementation agreed to Senior Management stakeholders and the wider department

* Ensuring that client implementations are aligned with wider business strategies and/or technical strategies across the OTT space

2 Development Facilitation

* Preparation of user stories in accordance with the agreed solution design and breakdown of Product scope

* Understanding of the technical implementation of a particular story and the expected customer experience to be achieved

* Presentation of user stories to development teams during Agile ceremonies such as a Planning sessions

* Working with Scrum Masters to ensure that user stories are organised in a fashion intuitive to the nature of the wider department's workflow

* Participate in detailed discussions with the Product Owner, Architect, Developer and Tester to ensure that stories are fully understood prior to development commencing

* Participate in the sign-off process for user stories, ensuring that requirements have been met in line with your own understanding of the goals

* Be highly available for ad-hoc questions and queries, ideally answered efficiently through the distribution of detail documentation

Essential Skills and Experience:

* Hands on, demonstrable, experience of preparing user stories and accompanying documentation for client application development across Mobile/PC/MAC/Console platforms

* Hands on, demonstrable experience of defining and documenting requirements for delivery into Agile Scrum teams

* Deep understanding and delivery experience of building web and mobile distributed applications

* Experience of using Agile software development methods within the IT, Media and Telecoms industries to deliver iterative solutions.

* Excellent understanding of the inter-relationships between different technical areas and also business areas.

* Demonstrable track record in software engineering working within a software delivery team.

* Demonstrable track record in the design and delivery of leading edge strategic business solutions from concept through implementation.

* Has undertaken all stages of the systems delivery lifecycle working closely with software engineering teams implementing your solutions.

* Demonstrable record of establishing, developing and maintaining 3rd party vendor relationships and maximising the benefit from those relationships.

* Demonstrable track record of working effectively with senior stakeholders within the business

* Demonstrable experience of business acumen and a solid understanding of how technology work streams interact and cross with business initiatives.

* Hands on, demonstrable knowledge of video-serving applications and streaming infrastructures
