Role Profile:

Reporting in to the Software Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will be expected to:

* co-ordinate a single squad's technical delivery flow: task managing software and test engineers in the team to optimise the business value of what's delivered, and owning the release process into the live environment.

* plan & govern how changes are implemented, working alongside Solution Architects and DevOps Engineers to ensure robust solutions.

* recognise and tackle recurring implementation problems, and ensure the maintainability of the solution: acting as a software architect where required, and driving high quality delivery by defining ways of working and testing strategy.

* mentor and develop the Software Engineers to ensure the team is as productive as possible

Key responsibilities:

Senior Software developers are responsible for the technical output of their squad: they work closely with the Product Owner to optimise the business value delivered and drive initiatives to enhance the quality and efficiency of delivery. At times you will be expected to step outside your normal responsibilities to pick up whatever is necessary but the core responsibilities are:

* Task-manage software engineers and testers: who is doing what, liaising with the Product Owner and PM/Scrum-master to find the right balance between business priority and efficient delivery.

* Manage live environment releases: deciding what's in the release, who will lead it, and assessing the post-deployment impacts.

* Working with scrum-master/PM to present Product Owner and other stakeholders with estimated timescales for feature delivery.

* Working with Business Analyst and Product Owner to sub-divide the workflow into sensibly sized and independent stories for delivery.

* Liaising as necessary with internal and external teams during delivery process.

* Have a complete knowledge of how the application that the team is responsible for works, and act as a technical go-to for any questions related to the team's application.
