Our officers do a critical job. Make sure they have the best communications technology possible.

The Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) is an armed police service that’s dedicated to the nuclear industry. Our vision is to be recognised as a provider of a world-class service for the protection of nuclear material and facilities. Given the critical nature of our work, it’s vital that we recruit skilled and committed professionals to our high-performing team. Join us as a Technical Lead and you’ll play a big part in the improvement of operational communications for our team.

To protect the nuclear industry, our officers need first-class communication systems. We’re therefore bringing our technology up to date and moving to the Emergency Services Mobile Communications Programme (ESMCP). Your challenge is to help our Operational Communications (OC) team deliver key projects and workstreams.

You’ll be supporting a small team that’s responsible for a broad range of service support and project delivery activities. Day-to-day, you’ll drive projects, provide expert technical validation and assurance, analyse stakeholder requirements and keep up to date with the latest best practice and trends. Whatever the task, value for money and safety regulations will be your priorities.

The communications you help deliver will be critical to CNC. You must therefore have experience in a senior technical post - perhaps as a Radio Engineer or in a related role. Whatever your background, you must have extensive knowledge of TETRA and LTE technology, as well as emergency services (or similar organisations). This should come with strong project management expertise. You’ll understand the methodologies involved and have experience of planning, documentation, risk assessment and change control. A Prince 2 qualification (or similar) would be ideal.

The key is to connect with everyone involved, including suppliers, staff, officers and senior managers. If you’re motivated and good with people, you could help the OC team traverse an important period of change.
