We wish to appoint an IT Technician/ Junior Support Analyst to work within the training academy at RAF Lyneham. The role will report to the Learning Resource Manager.

Responsibilities:

* Act as the site IT representative for the Defence College of Technical Training

* Main contact for all IS requests or initiatives

* Act as the site IT representative for Business Solutions

* Provide support to the company and Authority IS projects and initiatives

* Maintain an accurate record of IS hardware, co-ordinating regular audits to ensure information is accurate

* Conduct regular checks against IS contract costs, taking appropriate action to address erroneous charges

* Be the site Authorised Telecoms individual, liaising with Telecoms and O2 as necessary.

* Provide technical advice and support to routine contract activity and future business

* Troubleshoot and diagnose technical problems, implementing corrective action procedures within prescribed guidelines and escalating to other technical resources as appropriate

* Assist in maintaining technical documentation related to policies and procedures

* Attend relevant meetings and Working Groups

Key Skills:

* Degree level qualification in IT based discipline - Essential

* Desktop hardware and ancillary IT equipment experience - Essential

* IT technical experience - Essential

* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel - Essential

* Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills - Essential

* Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical users at all levels - Essential

* IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certification - Desirable

* SC Clearance - Desirable

* Experience using Moodle or similar VLE (Virtual Learning Environment) - Desirable

* Experience working within a MoD environment and associated security policies (JSP440) - Desirable
