Senior Digital Designer - 60 Day contract - Edinburgh (Leith)

Enigma People Solutions has an urgent and immediate short term contract for a Senior Digital Designer in Edinburgh. This is an exciting opportunity to work for a well-known organisation that markets Scotland to every corner of the globe and plays a key role in making Scotland a must visit, must return holiday destination.

The Design team is integral to the successful delivery of the organisation’s brand and digital content activities and the development and optimisation of its digital 

platforms across all B2B and B2C activities.

You will play a key role in driving the creative direction and leading the design and development process across a range of websites and applications. 

Key Skills and Experience 

- Strong commercial design experience as either an in-house designer responsible for production of a range of marketing materials or agency side working on a varied portfolio of client work

- Recognised design, UX or digital creative qualification or comparative experience

- Experience of managing and mentoring junior staff, in-particular providing creative support and development of working practises and methodology

- Substantial experience of art direction of print and digital products

- Comprehensive understanding of graphic design principles and web design best practises

- Comprehensive understanding of current UX best practices in interface design across multiple devices

- Expert in interpreting data and user research results to create wireframes, prototypes and mock-ups to describe and steer the user journey

- Fluent with the Adobe Creative Cloud suite of applications 

- Comprehensive understanding of Responsive Web Design principles including mobile first design and progressive enhancement

- Substantial experience of mobile website and application design for both smartphone and tablet 

- Substantial experience of working closely with Developers to create engaging digital experiences

- Substantial experience of designing to web accessibility guidelines

- Substantial experience of designing templates for modern Content Management Systems

- Comprehensive understanding of HTML email design, cross-device challenges and platform limitations

- Comprehensive understanding of modern web languages including HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript, their possibilities and limitations

- Fluent with the production of 2D animations using software such as Adobe Edge Animate, After Effects or similar

- Expert at communicating design methodologies and concepts to a non-technical audience

- Expert at presenting, justifying and confidently selling design principles and approaches to a senior audience of stakeholders

- Substantial experience of estimating work, both individually and for a team of designers. 

- Substantial experience of delivering design work to strict deadlines and with close collaboration with other dependent disciplines such as development, content and project management

- Substantial experience working with content management systems, designing templates, widgets and themes

- Comprehensive understanding of offline and print design processes with experience of preparing artwork for print using desktop publishing software
